I just posted a recipe and when I viewed it on BigOven.com, I noticed the following:

1. The recipe title is in Greek, so I added the English translation in parentheses.  For some reason, the first letter after the open-parentheses is NOT capitalized in the online version, though it is in my computer's version. Why did the posting process change the case of the letter?
2. The ingredients are formatted correctly in my computer's version, but the posted version is messed up.

Thinking I did something wrong, I verified the formatting of the recipe on my PC and reported it to the web site.  However, the web version still has the same issues.

 How do I correct the web version?  Is there something I'm doing to cause the problem?

Hi Barbara,

You did everything right -- you've found a (known) minor bug in the posting process.  We'll address this relatively soon.

Here's what's happening.  About 3 months ago, we got a little weary of having to frequently fix (manually) all the recipes whose titles were posted IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS -- which many consider the Internet equivalent of shouting -- so we wrote code that forced a "mixed case" format on the post.  One case we forgot to trap was when a parenthesis (or some other special characters) precede a word.  So, this was our goof, but we'll fix it.

UPDATE:I just noticed that the ingredients are listed side-by-side vs. in one column, which is fine. However, the word "baked" remains uncapitalized online btu not in my recipe.  Plus, the degree sign converted to a question mark in the online version, so I wonder if I should use 350F versus the number plus the degree sign.

Our posts crossed.  WOW!  You're quick!  And on a Saturday evening, no less!  I'm impressed.

None of these things are a big deal.  I was just curious if it was something I was doing incorrectly.

Yes, the folks at Lakefront are notoriously fast with their responses.  I guess they'd never cut it working in customer service or tech support at other companies because they would be too fast, too friendly, and too effective for the rest of the team:)

I'm not sure this is the correct place to ask but here goes anyway.  I posted a recipe this morning and part of the ingredient description was cut off when viewed, however, was there when I viewed how it would look prior to posting.  Anyone know how this can be edited & corrected?

If you posted it from the Windows desktop software, simply post it again and your changes will become the new version.  If you posted it from a web browser, you should see an "Edit" link on the right hand side.  Thanks!
